Replacing an aging above-ground liner in ? Empire Pools installs beaded, J-hook, and overlap liners the right way — with prep that’s built for local conditions.
In you’re typically dealing with coastal wind exposure and seasonal temperature swings that can make wrinkles more likely if the liner isn’t seated correctly.
We drain and remove the old liner, inspect the wall and coping track, treat surface rust, and re-shape the base/cove so the floor is smooth before the new liner goes in.
Then we hang and center the liner, vacuum-set it to pull out trapped air and reduce wrinkles, and we take our time aligning the pattern and waterline before the pool fills.
installs often involve access through tight side yards, fences, and landscaping — whether you’re near

, , and .
We plan the setup to keep your yard clean, protect pavers and patios, and keep hoses/pumps organized so the job stays efficient and safe.
If your pool sits on a slightly uneven base or you’ve had recurring wrinkles, we’ll spend extra time re-shaping the cove and vacuum-set timing so the liner locks in tight and straight before the fill rises.
Expect fast scheduling, clear communication, and a clean jobsite when we leave — with photos of key steps so you know exactly what was done.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A/G Liner Replacement FAQs
Straight answers for homeowners scheduling an above-ground liner replacement.
What’s the most common reason liners fail in our area?
Most failures come from a combo of vinyl aging (brittle material), UV exposure, and base issues (small washouts or soft spots). If the liner can’t stay seated or keeps leaking at seams, replacement is usually the smarter move.
Do you remove wrinkles, or do they “settle out” after the pool fills?
Wrinkles don’t reliably “settle out.” We aim to remove them before the water rises by using a vacuum-set and proper centering. Once water weight pins the vinyl, wrinkles are harder to correct and can shorten liner life.
What do you need from me before install day?
We’ll ask for pool size, liner type (beaded/J-hook/overlap), and a few photos of the top rail/track. Please make sure we have access to water and a clear path to the pool (move patio furniture, unlock gates, and keep pets inside).
Can you install a new liner if there’s rust on the wall?
Yes — as long as the wall is structurally sound. We clean and treat surface rust, smooth sharp edges, and confirm the track/coping is in good shape. If a wall panel is compromised, we’ll explain the fix options before we proceed.
How long does the replacement take and what can delay it?
Most replacements take 3–6 hours for the install portion, depending on wall condition, base corrections, and liner type. Delays usually come from hidden rust damage, heavy base washouts, or poor access that requires extra staging.
